The Scent of You

The scent of you
draws me in
I am blind but it matters not.
I willingly succumb to your innocent charms
your smile, your touch, your infectious laugh.
But most of all
the scent of you.

The scent of you
wishing it were real
I ignore my better judgement.
A heady mix of lust and longing
serves my desire and feeds my soul.
I need nothing
but the scent of you.

The scent of you
lingers on
Gone is the dream but I'm still here.
My heart is bruised, my mind is scarred
Alone, afraid, back at square one.
Left with nothing
save the scent of you.

Hehe what's this with you liking poems eh? Careful, you'll get a reputation :P

And yeah...but 'scent' is a word that can be used to cover a myriad of sins no? Scent is something familiar, and a good scent feels 'safe'...the question remains whether you actually fall for the person or for aspects of them that feel safe or familiar. And if it's the latter, then no matter how they hurt you - intentionally or otherwise - that familiar, safe 'ideal' of them remains long after they're gone. I'm guilty of this, which probably explains why I find it difficult to move on.

Again very nicely done. Its rainy here in colombo, goes well with the mood too! Nicely done. cus for me, Scent is the 1st step of being impressed. so i know exactly how it feels!

@Rain Drops - thank you! :-) I think I used 'scent' in a metaphorical sense, but it appears scent is an important part of attraction! We are animals after all :-)
